They only had 22 minutes left, still enough time to show him. “You want to see something cool?” Sean didn’t respond. “My Dad’s been writing a book, he’s hiding it in the basement but I know how to open the lock.”

He blamed television, Fairies were shiny and new. It sounded great on paper but he was so small, pink wasn’t his colour, the dress far too short and the tights itchy. At least he had clothes unlike that one time in the eighties. He foolishly believed it would work. It was only a few years, they always grew out of their ‘invisible friend’. Usually on the sooner side, his impact often required psychological repair, something he was quite proud of.

He was Mike-flipping-Pierce! Number one, King of the Mountain, at least once upon a time. Today He worked for a kid only just out of nappies. Life placed him high on that mountain and buggered off. He pooped in the castle, picked up some gravel with his mouth, spat it back out. Something was bothering him, but he couldn’t quite place it.

The darkness engulfed everything, it’s grip, along with hers, inescapable.
She spoke but all he heard was blood. Blood in his ears, racing to feed his brain. Arterial spray in his minds eye and nostrils, running down the walls. The heat in her arms fought the cold in his small naked frame.
